Clinical Safeguarding Supervision for Registered Managers and Staff
What is Clinical Safeguarding Supervision?
Clinical Safeguarding Supervision provides support to staff with any safeguarding and child protection concerns they may have and makes sure that child-centred activities are delivered safely. Effective Clinical Safeguarding Supervision reduces risk to children and young people, while identifying their needs. Clinical Safeguarding Supervision helps front-line staff to provide high-quality care, risk analysis, and individual action plans.
Clinical Safeguarding Supervision will encompass all agendas outlined in the Guide to the Children’s Homes Regulations including the Quality Standards (2015). Specifically, supervisees will be enabled to reflect on, understand, and manage their own feelings / responses in relation to the behaviour and emotions of children; they will be engaged in the safeguarding culture of the home so they understand what they would need to do if they found other staff misusing or abusing their position to the detriment of the safety of a child; and they will be encouraged to reflect on their practice and the needs of the children assigned to their care.
